So, Monika, Michael, Monika (yes, indeed, two blonde Hungarian women who do, in fact, share the same name--and are former roommates at that!), Polina, and myself all gathered at my place for a bit of food and wine this past Christmas day--and here, I'm very happy to say that my newest concoction, "Erik's All Organic All Veggie Chili Cheese Dog Pizza", turned out to be quite the success (I think...! Still not quite sure about that crust--just may to have to go with the pre-made stuff next time around...). Of course, everyone brought their own dishes as well (thankfully, as mine was a rather experimental attempt, and truly could have ended in disaster), and as such we rapidly found ourselves swamped with quiches, crepes, pastries, and the like. A few bottles of wine and a game of "SceneIt" later (which, horribly, I lost!! Quite the scandal...), and soon enough the evening came to end, with everyone readying to make the trek home. Polina stayed on to the wee hours, however, as we cracked open the sake ("Ninja"--good stuff) and began wading through our last photo shoot (see "Sexiest Photo of Someone Wearing a Scarf" below), that we might identify which shots we wanted to print out, all in order to send off to her father (who requested a few new shots of our Po which he could use to begin painting from). So yes, quite the enjoyable evening, all in all! (Note to self: most through more dinner parties in the new year...)
Well here we are then--it's New Year's Eve as I write this, with the big countdown about six hours away. I'll be heading over to Monika and Michael's in just bit, where we'll be joined by a few friends (Monika and Po amongst them) as we push through the midnight rollover. After, I (along with Monika and the Po) may be attending what seems to be a truly enormous loft party taking place just blocks away from where I live ("10,000 square feet, 1,000+ guests, lights, costumes, DJs", etc etc...), but who knows--said event does sound like quite an undertaking, and thus we'll just have to see how peppy we all feel around 2am or so.
Right then, off I go to get ready--but fear not dear Readers, I shall come back with photos aplenty. Have a great New Year all, and do enjoy the bubbly on this most festive yet arbitrary of holidays...!
